Music Marketing #2

During the development of our music project, me and Addison went around outside the school property and did our filming. The start of the loaction would take place the side walk at the front of the portals of the 800's building, why? because since the intro of the music started with, "hands to burnt, sitting on the side of the road" we decided to find a location that has a road near it so we could sorta match up the music to the lyrics of the song, and usually music lyrics that start off with that usually takes place outdoor in a sunny, hot day. I made this shot a long shot to get the whole view to start out where the character is and the atmosphere around that surrounds it. The intro was also sorta of a long take that we decided to do, especially when trying to switch it up in real time from close up and back to midshot during when Madison saids the lines of "get up up up up up up up" (x2).

After that take I was planning to transition the camera position moving it towards the concret view from the 400's building from the ground up, however there was kinda an issue within doing that process which was quaility. The recording quaility when shooting it from the ground up was not that good since the phone camera quality was rubbish, instead we decided to just shoot a longshot view of the stairs of the 400's, with Addison slightly up the stairs so she has the higher angle while she looks at the camera straight down.

There was a sudden pause throught the lyrics when there was just music playing and no one speaking through it for the couple of seconds. During that part we decided to implement some establishing shots around the 900's building and a long shot of the outside campus which extents from the 900's building to the cafeteria. Agreed and thought it would be a good idea.

Horror research blog

Horror
horror is an genre of film or in the screen play which is meant to scare the audience with fear of the situation that's going on. Having a sense of dread of what might happend next which would provoke with the unknown mystery. Horror would typically take place during the night, why? it provokes fear since the characters are surrounded by darkness which limits the view from far away, making you feel like you're not alone and someone might be with you. Location and surroundings are important especially on a horror film, you want to find an area like aboundand buildings or a forest because of the isolation, atmosphere, and the impact of it. Depending on how run down the building is could make the horror more intense.

Sound in horror helps build up suspence of the situation of what's going on in a scene. It could help build up a scare effect when the moment seems right for a scare! adding in some eerie sounds could be great for putting something doesn't sound right or something frightful about to happend. As for example when you hide behind a door and wait for your victim to pass by, and you jump and yell out "Boo!", It'll most likely be the sound and appearance that scared the victim off frightfully.
When They Cry (2006)
An example of horror is the series "When they cry" (also known as Higurashi), is a Japanese anime that's on the subject of mystery and horror events that take place near Hinamizawa (rural village) where dark and errie that occurs. When keiichi first arrives at the village, he starts to be friends with a groups of local girls but as Keiichi stays in the village longer he soons finds out the violent and mistery death that occur on the town's Watanagashi Festival. The Watanagashi Festival is a yearly event that occurs when the people in the village celebrate by eating food, playing carnival game, and put cotton balls in the river as they float away which would symbolize to carry away the bad spirits and misfortune. There's rumores that the curse might be by Oyashiro Sama, who which the people in the village refer to her as Rika because of her family history, but shes able to talk to the god Oyashiro Sama. She's granted the ability to loop back in time, trying to find a timeline where she and her other friends doesn't get murdered and struggles to look for one.

The audience for the show is usually age ranged from 15 years old to 30 years old because of the setting, the main characters, and how the style of the story goes. it's a horror thriller series that's problem solving and brings suspence. Using cute characters in a horror setting is like a mix of dark and light that happens throught series. Most of the people who watch anime are mostly people in that age range because it's a type of cartoon. The location of the place is isloated from the world oustide which could feel like a trap and having no escape to leave it once you're their. The amount of times she has to loop over and over again just to find the perfect life.

 Roblox

The game Roblox, which has about 1 billion downloads on google play store and played by millions of people everyday offers you almost an endless customization to dress up how ever style of animation you like from blocky avatars to realistic designs. The simple default blocky avatar when you first create an account offers you a feel of nostalgic moments, well particulary Generation Z and Gen Alpha. It holds a special place in the hearts of those who grew up with it. Although Roblox has almost to millions of games inside its application that's mostly created by the community and people itself, it offers some classic Roblox games like Natural Disaster Survival or Murder Mystery 2.The amount of games it has allow users to pick different genre to allow different styles and experiences that would soon be iconic over time.

The basic blocky avatar is a simple cubical design which is used in games that offers mostly wide shots to capture its full movements in the open world. Wideshots allow you to see everything in the way, in which you could change to perspective view to first person by scrolling the mouse all the way until you reach it. Its sound design for movement and jumping effects is easy to reconize as they're unique in its own way as the sound is sharp and clear which adds a bit of simplicity of the design. editing desgin on these games vary depending on the type of game you plan on looking for, as there's millions of online games inside Roblox that provide different expirences. But in the game switching cameras and angle positions are quickly easy to do depending how you want it. it makes the avatar's look simple and eveything feels basic and straightfoward.

You can buy realistic Avatar's in the shop, which is smoother, and more human-like porportions than the basic blockly one. Games that provide you to only be in POV view allow you to see more detailed with other avatars how they are and detailed making the character a bit more lifelike-ish. Editing in during the most of the games require quck cuts that switch quickly between angles, which makes the gameplay more exciting and modern. Blocky avatars offer more nosalgia and simple character desgine while realistic avatars allows how the people want to be represented, showing their desgine and appeal and realism. Roblox in general uses a lot of sound, editing, and angles designs in their games that appeal to the audiance depending on how they feel on the type of games they're going to play.

Blog posting - Sound

During the lessons and the assigned videos I've learned and will continue to learn the concepts of sound design. I've exploered and know how sounds could be one of the most important concept that could have the availability to change the effect or mood through out the story, depending on how the author puts it. How adjusting the volume, fequency, and timing could effect the sound experience. Foley artists really interest me because they're really creative from creating realistic sounds that come to play in films. They could use things like vegetables to break or twist apart and it would make a sound of the outside wildlife. Celery or carrots can be an example of stepping on branches or sticks that come away. This could be great for recreating sounds for the audience experience to hear the full sound of the ambient wildlife sounds.

In my lessons of studying sounds I've learned how different types of sound would be able to create atmosphere which could help tell stories in the media. Synchrononous sounds matches from the film of what the person can see, while asynchronous sound is the opposite, not hearing the sounds of the screen. Diedetic sound comes from the scene like the radio or people talking As compaired to non-diegetic sounds you can only hear during things like background music, things that can only be heard by the author. Sound perspective makes sounder coming from close or farther away, which this could help in transiting between scenes of sounds. Stings are short sounds but unique that grabs attention to the viewers. Each sound the technique plays important roles and makes it engaging depending on the type of scenario you want to create.

For the objective of the sound project is to create and learn how to tell a story by using audio effects and other sound techniques without filming. Brainstorming 1-2 minutes school-approprite scene that takes place during real time. It should be added with various sounds to be able to convery the story without visuals but in order to start the project you will need to fill out the brainstorming sheet to help you plan out your ideas but simple ideas like getting ready for school, cooking, or a robbery are not permitted. Once picking your scene, you will have to create a detailed outline of the sound plan to use to make the story more realistic. However there's a limit of wording you could say on your project for up to 7. You will submit the project in the link posting it inside the word document shared by the class as with the editing process as well.

For my approach for completing the project I started to brainstorm with me and my partners, thinking of an ideas of things that would allow me to tell a story through sound. Me and my group were able to come up with an amazing story timeline about a guy entering an abandoned mansion house but it comes with a twist of something spokey that happens inside the house that makes the man wanna leave it. Mysterious ghost and spirits haunt it. Me and my group members decided to write it down, making a brainstorming list sheet of the sounds that would be added this this particular events in which what would be played and occured. This could help organize the sounds, giving our members a clear structure to follow During the brainstorming we each figured out what type of item we have to create for the foley stage Since four were required to be in the sound project. We created foley sounds using celery, broom, carboard box, and spagetti angle hair that represents different sounds that happends throughout the project. celery was grass that the main character was stepping on, broom recreates the sound of the bushes brushing by the wind, carboard box (tear) represents the stairs breaking though as the characters falls over, and spaghetti (angle hair) was used for breaking twigs.

For the editing resources, all of our members used the application Adobe Premiere pro and sound effects that was in the links attached in the project would best be appropriate for the setting of this story. I believe most of us decided to use Pixabay, Youtube, and Filmstock. During editing I tried to look for sounds that resemble the outside night, as well as a car sound effect stopping by. (each of us split the sound project into sections so we'll know who's doing what) What I mostly did during my editing was sound layering, to continue adding layers or sound to prevent a weird unexpected cut during the project. Some of the sound effects I had sped up because the stepping sound effects were going a bit slow and boosted the volume a bit higher on the little parts that's hard to hear.

Blog posting - OWF

The word that was given to me (and my partner Andrew) for the project was the word "frustrated".

We both came up with an idea to start out our filming in a school organization, especifically in a classroom. The story will begin with a student having a hardtime understanding test that was given to him. Through out the project there's some intense thinking and some fustration emotions that he shows while trying to answer the problems his best. The student then zones out and gets a flashback of him playing video games while there's a sticky note on the wall showcasing that the test was going to be due tomorrow, which saids a lot about how prepared the student is. We get a close up of the clock ticking to resembles the time that's passing by.The teacher takes the students scantron test paper away and grades it and the student feels stressed out and devastated. After the time ticks and passes by the teacher comes back with the graded scantron and the student ends up failing the test in which the student gets angry and crumbles the test paper and throws it in the ground. Our word "fustrated" really comes to express itself at the end of the film after he gets his grade.

During our brainstorming selection this mostly came off of our heads of what to do and plan out of the scene. me and my partner decided to do our own planning with the same subject and intro of the start. So we both started with the subject of a school classroom setting and intro of the student taking the test, from there we both set our own ways and brainstorm of to how we could do our own planning of it. For me I was just gathering my ideas from my head and planning what to put or things. Once we've both finished with our brainstorming ideas we compaired them to both agree or disagree to pick which sence or idea sounds better, and change some ideas of part of the story that sounded good. Through our both stories we've created, we made a new story planner to be our finalizer of how we're going to plan the filming.

The storyboard helped me pre-visualize my project my project because it allowed me to get a clear visual of the outline each sence before we both evaulate it and organize any ideas that might need changing. It just helps with make everything plan out smoothly before when starting the actual production of our filming. we both shared our own ideas, planned it out and discussed it and decided to finalize it on a sheet of paper.

The editing resources that I utilized were effects like black out, a rainbow aura effect, din dark effect around during the close up of the clock, a bright filter effect and a black and white filter effect. I also added sounds through out the project for a better understanding.

I feel like through out the sences I wasn't really putting out my best acts like, I was more smiling then acually being like stressed/angry-ish. I could've putten out more of an exciting expression during my foreshadowing when I was playing video games. My overall acting and movement expression is probably not the best to be honest. Some of the editing transitions could've been better for example the part where I zoom in from my head and everything turns black and goes to the camera, I didn't like that zoom in from the head, could've used a better transition.

In my spare time, I sometimes like to draw sketches, usually in a cartoon style-ish. I also like to 3D print things and continue to learn the functions of bender and how it works, I find the concept of being able to make something on blender and print it out astonishing. Last thing is Youtube, don't forget Youtube, the amazing platform where you could watch anything from tutorials to game play. So based on reading my blog you'll most likely see drawings, prints and gameplay.
